DJ Kulu is a stalwart of the Hong Kong club scene. Since the 70s, his jazzy beats has kept the city dancing, and despite the passage of time, his funky spirit remains undiminished.
Process
Inspired by his vibrant persona, we set out to create a video portrait that encapsulates this funkiness. The sound design, camera movements, and composition were deliberately imbued with a sense of quirky fun.
We roamed around the neighborhood of Kennedy Town in a candid fashion, popping in and out of locations that I see fit to shoot. It was an unplanned surprise that was put together in post-production into a cohesive piece that captures DJ Kulu’s unique energy.
